LANCASHIRE’S firefighters are encouraging people to stay safe during the Bonfire Night period by attending a properly organised bonfire party.

The fire service has warned that bonfires and home firework displays need a lot of planning if they are to be safe and not a hazard for those attending.

They have advised that a visit to an organised display usually means bigger, better fireworks and plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

Lancashire’s Chief Fire Officer, Chris Kenny said: “Our firefighters, paramedics, A&E staff and the police often witness the downside to Bonfire Night, the fires and injuries that can easily result when celebration turns to tragedy because of carelessness or anti-social behaviour associated with fireworks and bonfires.

“Organised bonfires and firework displays are the most spectacular and enjoyable way to spend Bonfire Night in safety.”
