The Archbishop of York John Sentamu will visit East Lancashire next month.
During the trip on November 4 and 5, he will visit Blackburn Cathedral twice.
It is his first trip to Lancashire since he consecrated Bishop of Blackburn Julian Henderson as the leader of the county’s Anglicans in October last year.
He will visit St Michael’s High School in Chorley and also take part in an act of worship with 500 children from across Hyndburn.
The youngsters from Church of England primary schools, will celebrate All Saints Day at Accrington’s St John’s Church.
Archbishop John will speak at a Focus on the Middle East conference in the Cathedral on November 4. The following morning, he will return to lead early morning communion.
Archbishop John said: “I am looking forward to my visit to Blackburn Diocese.
“They have put together a fantastic programme in which I’ll meet school children; students and chaplains.”
In a YouTube video he tells Lancashire to “get ready for fireworks of the different kind!”
Bishop Julian said: “I am looking forward to welcoming the Archbishop to Lancashire and showing him some of the great work being done.”
