TWO East Lancashire MPs have backed a new initiative which aims to enhance the lives of people living with dementia in Rossendale.

Jake Berry and Graham Jones are supporting ‘Dementia Friendly Rossendale’, which has been set up by health chiefs to address the issues surrounding living with and caring for residents with dementia.

Both MPs recently attended a Dementia Friends information session at Rossendale Youth Zone where they, along with a group of young people and staff from the zone, had the chance to learn more about the impact of the condition.

Mr Jones, MP for Hyndburn, said: “I am delighted to give my full support to Dementia Friendly Rossendale – this is a great initiative which will raise awareness of the issue and support those who are suffering. I would encourage others to engage and support the ‘dementia friendly’ campaign.”

Mr Berry, MP for Darwen and Rossendale, said: “I was really pleased to join up with Graham to give our backing to Dementia Friendly Rossendale.

“We have a responsibility to make sure that carers and people living with dementia get the support to continue a fulfilling and rewarding life.”
