PE teacher Lindsay Bleazard swam 10 miles across Windermere for charity.
Every year around 100 of Britain’s top swimmers take part in Windermere’s One Way Swim which starts and ends at two National Trust venues, Fell Foot Park and Low Wray.
Lindsay, a former Burnley Bobcats swimmer who has competed at county and national levels, did the swim in just under four-and-a-half hours.
Lindsay, who teaches at Blessed Trinity RC College, said: “I had a bit of a wobble at six miles where it got really difficult. I only started open water swimming two years ago, it’s quite daunting going from a pool to a lake.”
She finished first in the ladies swim and third place overall. Lindsay raised more than £2,500 for Pendleside Hospice who looked after her dad Keith Hudson for nine weeks in 2011 before he died of cancer. She said: “Everyone’s been unbelievable, the support was overwhelming.”
