A CHARITY cricket match in memory of a Colne lifeguard who died five years ago has raised £350 for Pendleside Hospice.

The match, between the retained firefighters of Colne and friends and family of Tom Petty, was held at Colne Cricket Club and was won by the firefighters. Tom, 25, a lifeguard at Pendle Leisure Centre, died along with his girlfriend Jessica Foxley, 21, and friend Philip Wright, 25, when their car crashed in Skipton Road, Colne, in July 2009.

Around 80 people turned out to watch the match, and there was also a BBQ and activities for children.

The firefighters and the Petty family said they would like to thank everyone who supported the evening and a special thanks to all the local shops, restaurants and services in Colne which donated raffle prizes.
