FOUR of East Lancashire’s best-known solicitors were in the pink as they ran from Bacup to Burnley dressed as fairies.

This wasn’t so much of a stretch for one of the intrepid quartet, Krystal Savoie.

But Nick Cassidy, Ben Leech and Lee Hammond certainly turned heads as the tutu-clad team from Steele, Ford & Newton pounded the pavements for the Katy Holmes Trust.

The charity was established in memory of 10-year-old Katy, from Penwortham, who died of a paediatric brain tumour in January 2012 and funds research into possible cures. Mr Cassidy, an SFN director, said: “One of the firm’s partners, Mark Irlam, was asked to be a judge for the Lancashire Business Awards.

“While on the panel, a fellow judge told him about the charity and the staff at Steele, Ford & Newton wanted to get involved.

Combined with a coffee morning staged by staff from the Nelson office, the nine-mile plus run between their offices in Bacup and Burnley town centre, nearly £480 has been generated.

“Katy was a massive Disney fan and so we dressed as characters in her memory, “ added Mr Cassidy.

Staff at the firm’s Nelson office also staged a coffee morning and on Sunday, September 6, an SFN team will be entered into an It’s A Knockout event, staged by the trust, in Preston.

Donations can be made to an online fundraising page – www.justgiving.com/Mark-Irlam1 – and there are plans for further activities in future.
