MORE than 150 people attended a poignant fundraising event at a Ramsbottom pub in memory of a stillborn baby.

The Eagle and Child, in Whalley Road, celebrated the life of Oliver Robert Jordan who died at Burnley General Hospital in July 2012.The event was in aid of the Oliver Robert Jordan Foundation, set up by Oliver’s parents, Simon and Lynsey Jordan, from Feniscowles, Blackburn.

Last year, Mr Jordan, assistant principal at Burnley College, ran a 100-mile ultra-marathon in less than 24 hours to raise money for the charity which uses its proceeds to pay for bereavement and counselling sessions for families who have had similar experiences. The Oliver Robert Jordan Foundation has raised £6,300 since it was established.

The fundraiser at the Eagle and Child included music, children’s activities, a raffle and a people auction where guests offered services, including piano lessons and ironing.

The day was heralded a success by organisers and the total amount raised is still to be announced.

Glen Duckett, who owns the Eagle and Child, said: “Sunday’s event was really an awesome fundraiser with more than 150 people turning out to give their support.

“There was also an afternoon tea, face painting as well as a marquee. The whole event went really well.”

Among the charities which the foundation is helping is the East Lancashire Hospice in Blackburn which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
