BLACKBURN with Darwen Council has launched an investigation after a woman claimed a taxi driver attempted to defecate in an alleyway outside her home.

Erica McHugh, of Wellington Road, Mill Hill, said she was ‘disgusted’ after witnessing a male driver leave his car and remove his trousers before squatting down in view of her living room window.

MORE TOP STORIES:

The firm which Miss McHugh claimed the driver worked for said it had reviewed its records and found there was no case to answer.

Miss McHugh, 30, said she was watching television with her boyfriend Gary Round, 40, when they noticed a man loitering outside at around 1.40am on Monday.

She said: “We could hear the car’s engine running and see the lights. I got up to look because it was quite late and he was pacing up and down the street as if he was on the phone.

“Across from the house there is a ginnel and next thing he pulled his pants down and squatted down. I banged on the window at least 10 times to try to get his attention but he just ignored me.

“Eventually my boyfriend ran out of the house and shouted at him while I rang the taxi company.”

The couple said they could not take note of the car’s registration plate because it was too dark.

Miss McHugh added: “It’s not the sort of thing you expect to see outside your front door. It was disgusting. I’m just grateful he didn’t have time to follow through with it. I’ve complained to the council and they said they would be back in touch.

“I rang up the firm as it was happening and they just laughed at me. When I rang back again, he said the driver had been spoken to, but that isn’t good enough. They didn’t take me seriously”.

The complaints manager at the company in question said she had found no evidence that any of its drivers were in the area at the time Miss McHugh claims the incident happened.

She said: “Our drivers deny all knowledge of this. They are very experienced and I believe them. We run a very professional ship here and there is no evidence that one of our taxis was involved at all. There are dozens of drivers in Blackburn with Darwen.

“I have spoken to the phone operator who took the call and he thought it was a hoax call. He did laugh but there was no malice intended and he has apologised.”

A spokesman for the council’s licensing department said: “I can confirm we have received a complaint and we will investigate before we can comment any further.”

I had a bed delivered the other week at 8 in the morning from a well known high street store the men stopped round the corner and both men urinated against a wall at the end of my street in broad day light.
I saw a young girl went behind our back garden wall sat down taking her jeans down and tried to defecate but i banged on my window and she ran away .
These things are happening million times on Britain's streets maybe lack of public toilets ? where does the window cleaners or road sweepers go to when they are desperate ?

And here's me thinking that taxi proprietors are required to record when a driver is on duty, what jobs he is allocated and it's final destination; for the safety of both the passenger and driver.
Armed with a description of the driver, the vehicle, a copy of the jobs allocated, it's not rocket science to work out whom the culprit is. Or at the very least, eliminate a lot of suspects..
To be honest, at that time of day, in that area, it's hardly going to be choc-a-bloc with taxis, no matter what company they work for, is it?
Perhaps some reader here, was dropped off within a few streets, around that time and can assist?
Sad fact of the matter is that the licensing office will accept what they are told and since nothing occurred, let the matter go unresolved, as they don't have a chance of making any revenue from the work, do they?
Like all departments, this is no different; if it doesn't make money, they're not interested.

Even with a distinct lack of public conveniences, surely it's not unreasonable for taxi offices to offer their own toilets to (desperate) taxi drivers. So even if he couldn't get back to his own base he could use others. There are several taxi offices within 2 minutes drive of Mill Hill. Likewise with delivery men - they only need ask if desperate - surely few would refuse - especially if the alternative was cleaning up afterwards!

Yes, and before they closed off the Boulevard rank, have seen taxi drivers using Morrisons car park, as a urinal.
In my opinion, this man had absolutely no excuse whatsoever and needs to be told so, in no uncertain terms.

No need. But naming and shaming is putting the power back into people's hands.

People power is the way forward.

I noticed by the number of thumbs down on my post, I've upset those who think nothing wrong with peeing and defacating in the streets.

To answer M DANNY question - where do people who work outside 'go'?
I used to work outside and believe me there are plenty of places. Pubs, clubs (just put a quid on the bar) hospitals, clinics, hotels or even, for taxi drivers, just drive home or to a relatives house. No excuse for relieving oneself in public. And, if you are seen in a state of undress by a MOP you will, in all likelihood, be charged with indecent exposure. And you really don't want that since the overhaul of the sexual offences acts as it will mean signing the register for 5yrs and that would put an end to a career.

So you have not seen men urinating on streets in UK ?
Yes, and before they closed off the Boulevard rank, have seen taxi drivers using Morrisons car park, as a urinal.
In my opinion, this man had absolutely no excuse whatsoever and needs to be told so, in no uncertain terms.

From what I have seen in the past by the LT is they do try to delete individual posts but it's almost as though they have a "10 strikes and the comments are switched off" sort of rule.

I have often wondered if they stick with this part of the site terms and conditions:

"If we find your use of this site seriously inappropriate, offensive or disruptive, we may use information we have about you to stop such conduct, and this may include informing relevant third parties such as your employer, school, email provider or, in the case of any suspected unlawful activity, the police."

I take my dog out in the country and she likes to squarely look me in the eye whilst she curls one out knowing I bag it and pop it in the nearest poop a scoop bin. One day after a heavy night and a large kebab I was caught short whilst in a heavy wooded area with a bad case of rumbling tummy and urge to defecate was too immense. I always wonder why a dog fafs around for 10 mins looking for a place to crap. I did the same and got revenge and squarely stared my dog out whilst I did business to relive myself. ( turns out she didn't really bother) I felt disgusted and thankfull for pocket tissues. I walked off wondering how we find ourselves in this mindset and how we have evolved past crapping where we stand. Maybe the flushing toilet with its out of sight out of mind capability it brings removes the ability for the human brain to consider others maybe in a position not to enjoy this convenience at a particular time. We are a biological animal and yes ok , this particular gentleman should of chose a suitable area. The housing locality and the couple in the house with the light on and curtains open at 1.40am on Monday probably wasn't a wise choice. But I am struggling to find what she wants from this. Knock on your window , shout and be on with it. Why do you give a crap? (Pun intended)

The only reason it still exists is because of the Blackburn football team and the triviality that provides for its remaining readers, rather than the dire situation things are in around this part of the world.

Perhaps it’s best not to post anything controversial due to the fact that all posts will be removed. The worry that Blackburn may very well have similar child abuse cases similar to the ones reported in Rotherham is now a concern to many. No comments have been reported within these pages from Blackburn with Darwen Council to date about this matter therefore anything that contains similar content will be used to voice concerns. “CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Blackburn's 'Free Palestine' paint pest” has had all post removed and further post has been cancelled. - You have to ask yourself WHY?
Because some duma$$ called Mikeee47 decided it was ok to start opening his trap and defacating his far right vile just because it thought it was fashionable.

Well Mill Hill is one big toilet after all so what do you expect off the taxi driver??
Mill Hill, like the rest of Blackburn, used to be such a nice, clean friendly place. Things seemed to change around the early 1970s. Can anyone suggest what might have happened?
Well seeing there are very few Asians in Mill Hill.. Dunno Angry, what's your take?

It must have taken a great deal of effort just to get out of the taxi as the drivers usually sit in the car and sound the horn.

I saw a woman looking like she was relieving herself in the bushes right in front of Royal Blackburn hospital. Very disturbing!
