THOUSANDS of people descended on Blackburn’s Rocket Centre for it’s 10th annual open day.

Motorbike enthusiasts from across the country went to the Trident Way store on Saturday Superbike racers Chris Walker, Sylvain Guintoli, Adam Jenkinson and Chaz Davies turned up to sign autographs and Jamie Whitham took to the stage for his ever-popular Q&A session.

There were inflatable slides, ice cream trucks and a wild animal shows that kept the children happy as well as live bands, bike gear for sale and the famous Wall of Death – a featuring stuntmen riding and performing tricks on Indian Scout bikes on a vertical, cylindrical track.

Mark Cottom, Rocket Centre marketing manager, said: “It takes a while to get all this together, but it’s a fantastic turnout and everyone is having a great day. The Critters2You show with reptiles and spiders has been keeping all the kids entertained and the weather is fantastic. There’s smiles on people’s faces so it’s just brilliant.”

Proceeds from the event are to be donated to North West Air Ambulance.
