A YOUNGSTER from Blackburn has been given a job on the back of a successful jobs fair.

Pipe firm Pipextra has taken on an apprentice after the Darwen Jobs Fair, organised by Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry.

The company, based in Stonyhurst Road, connected with Blackburn College at the fair at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy in May.

Matthew Mellor, general manager of Pipextra, said: “While we were at the fair we met Chris Precious from Blackburn College, who told us all about the apprenticeship scheme they run.

“We have subsequently given a job to a young chap through Blackburn College and he will complete a business administration apprenticeship.”

Mr Berry said: “I am absolutely delighted to hear of another success story from the jobs fair.

“Pipextra are a fantastic local company and I am so pleased that they have given a young person such a great opportunity.”
