FIVE people were arrested after a party got out of hand and spilled into the street.

Residents in Blackburn Road, Oswaldtwistle, said the party started when loud music started banging through the walls at 4pm on Saturday.

And the party continued until the early hours when, having hadenough, neighbours called police.

Five people were arrested and the rest scattered, some climbing into neighbouring gardens to escape.

A neighbour said: “It was unbelievable.

“It started at 4pm and I said to my husband they will probably go out in a bit.

“But they didn’t. They stayed there and it was like a constant mass of noise.

“There were young girls screaming and shouting obscenities. The language was terrible.”

When police arrived they threatened to break down the door as revellers had barricaded themselves inside.

But eventually they gave in and opened the door.

Another resident said: “I have never seen anything like it. This was the rave of raves.

“No one could sleep or watch their television and the walls were echoing.

“It wasn’t worth going round to complain as there must have been 20 or 30 of them.

“It escalated out on to the pavement and then it got violent and they started fighting with each other.

“Someone must have called the police and they certainly turned out in force.

“There were eight police vehicles out there.

“The annoying part is that someone jumped over the walls into our back yard and there was some damage done.

“We have grandchildren who sometimes stay at weekends and if they were here they would have been terrified.

“It is unacceptable. We cannot get on with our lives when it is like that.”
