A COUPLE fled their home when a fire broke out in the loft.

Fire crews were called to the semi-detached in Dunster Avenue, Oswaldtwistle, at 6.45pm today.

They said it was an electrical fire but were still investigating the cause and were still at the scene almost three hours later.

They made a hole in the roof for ventilation and stopped it spreading.

The fire destroyed the contents of the loft, including clothes and Christmas decorations.
