OFFICERS are reminding residents to keep windows and doors locked during the warm weather, even if they are at home.

It comes after two homes in the same Bacup street were targeted in one night.

The first theft in Ramsey Avenue happened between 6.15pm and 10.30pm on Sunday while the occupant was in the back garden.

A Toshiba laptop worth £50, a £150 Acer Memo Pad, a plastic black purse containing £30 a mobile telephone and a bank card were snatched.

During the second burglary, which happened between 1.30am and 7.30am on Monday, a Samsung television, Philips Soundbar and base speaker, a Dell notebook, £20 in cash, two handheld computers and a key to a Chevrolet car were taken.

Inspector Paul Leigh, from the neighbourhood policing team, said: “In these burglaries, the offenders sneaked in while the doors were open.

“Even though it is nice weather, keep your doors and windows locked.

“Even if you are just in the back garden, make sure your front door is secure.”

Anybody with information about either burglary is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
