SCHOOLS are asking parents and pupils to be alert after a teenage girl reported that she had been approached by a man in a car.

Police have been informed about the incident after the girl said that a man in a distinctive green car had made an advance towards her.

Schools in the Rossendale area have told their pupils to be aware when walking home after the incident last week.

Local secondary schools have also sent letters out warning parents after the girl was approached by an Asian man on Monday after school in Rawtenstall.

The driver was in a lime green car with blacked out windows and a black spoiler.

Haslingden High School is one of the schools which has warned parents as a result.

A letter from deputy headteacher Gill Smith said: “He tried to encourage the student to get in the car.

MORE TOP STORIES:

“The police have been informed and are aware, but did reassure us that it is an isolated incident. Please could we ask that all parents make appropriate travel arrange-ments with their son or daughter.

“Whilst this is the only information we have received at the moment, please be assured that we will contact you again if the need arises.

“In the meantime we ask that parents and students remain vigilant and report any concerns to either school or the police.”

Headteacher Mark Jackson said: “We don’t want to panic anyone, we just feel it is better safe than sorry.

“It’s a really distinctive vehicle so we are asking pupils to be aware and keep away. We try to instill some ground rules and ask them to try and walk in pairs and not give directions or approach strangers.”

If YOU read it properly you'd see that it says "Haslingden High School is one of the schools which has warned parents as a result".
It makes no reference to Haslingden High School being the School in question.

Please keep up.

What I find quite incredible about this story is that LT has actually described the ethnicity of the attacker, especially as they were not White British, and allowed comment. Well done. Even-handed reporting at last?

Ah, but now I read a comment with the word Muslim in the title -
`New Blackburn Muslim school to be blocked'
- but no comment allowed.
Perhaps the Asian assailant was Oriental?

if some stranger tried to snatch my girl i will f***** lock him in a tank full of ice . unforgivable these kind of people . police should put cctv cameras near schools ,nd play grounds . who to trust these days ?
And who exactly would pay for all these CCTV cameras given the amount of schools and playgrounds in the area?
And if an incident were to happen away from a school or playground what then?
