Blackburn Labour teams up to oust Tory MP

Blackburn Citizen: MP Jake Berry MP Jake Berry

BLACKBURN Labour Party has been officially twinned with Rossendale and Darwen in a bid to oust Tory MP Jake Berry next year.

National bosses have asked it to send workers into the neighbouring marginal seat in the run up to the general election in May 2015.

Mr Berry won the seat by 4,493 from sitting Labour MP Janet Anderson in 2010.

The constituency is considered a key swing seat for any party hoping to form a government and in 1992 Mrs Anderson beat Tory David Trippier by just 120 votes.

A Labour North West spokesperson said: “The party encourages members and activists from across the country to support seats that Labour need to win.

“This is done alongside the work they carry out in their own constituencies.”

Mr Berry said: “Blackburn has been going down for 20 years. You would think the town’s Labour party might be more concerned with receiving it than interfering in the affairs of the neighbouring constituency.”

Blackburn Labour Party secretary Phil Riley said: “We are happy to help.”

Suggest they concentrate on their own patch. Just because the Asian population adored Jack they should not take it for granted they will vote in a women as MP. After all to most Asian men women are an inferior species, only fit for breeding and looking after the menfolk.
As for Jack jnr, try working for a living and not hanging on to your father's coat tails. Get some experience in the real world first. That would be a novelty for most MPs.

Labour think they can garner votes, by bringing in outsider help?
So when these outsiders come knocking on your door, asking if they can count on your vote, there's no point in mentioning your concerns about some local issues that need addressing, as they will be absolutely clueless, since they don't live in the area.
This has to be one of the most ill-conceived plans that I've heard of, in years; which idiot in Old Queen St thought this one up? Have they not learned from the Liberals, those most noted of doorstep politicians, who use local knowledge to gain support from the electorate?
Whilst I'm no Conservative nor Labour voter, I sometimes wonder if Central Office has a clue about what concerns that people have, up North of Watford Gap. Mind you, they do have an office up in North Shields; perhaps they are going to bus them down here, with their incomprehensible North-East accents, to get the voters out. Just what you need, to make you want to vote, 'none of the above!
With this kind of thinking, Mr Berry must be nearly a shoo-in for the Conservatives, without the need of turning out the twin-set and pearls brigade of Conservative ladies, to get the voters out.
It's a good job that this cunning Labour plan has only been 'leaked' to the LT, as they would only get laughed at, were it in the red topped newspapers.
What next, I wonder, perhaps getting Professor Brian Cox to reform his D'ream band and making another record, to be used to rally the troops?
It's enough to make you want to nail up your letterbox until it's all over, it really is!

In other political news: I heard today, that Kate Hollern is not going to be using a soapbox, (as Jack Straw did,) to make speeches in the town centre. Something to do with Health and Safety, those shoes she wears, the weight that the box can carry and 'what's the point, as it's only going to make her eye-level with everyone else'.
Politics, is such a cruel game, at times!

We're fine in Darwen with Jake Berry thank you very much and, unlike that Labour Anderson woman, I've actually clapped eyes on him more than once because he spends a lot of time up here.

You don't think, for a second, that there is going to be some nepotism going to occur here, much as it does in the Asian sub-continent; where the child 'inherits' a political seat, by virtue of birth, do you?
What a truly scary thought!
I know that, son-of-Jack, was 'groomed' (if that is the right word to use nowadays, for obvious reasons and it's connotations with children) for political office, by dint of his father being a good, all round egg and all but would you have me believe that, on some far off day, he is to be a candidate here, in Blackburn?
Do I not have enough nightmare scenarios to contend with, without you sowing that seed into my dreams?
Bad enough that Kate is going to stand; where I gnawed the ear of my Teddy Bear in my sleep, with worry, and now you propose this; Will Straw for Blackburn or Darwen?
Have you no compassion, for my poor bear?

God help us If Straw Jnr becomes MP, look what his Dad has done for Blackburn! Jack calling In the favours of Blackburn to help, and Hollern and co saying how high do you want us to jump Jack, pathetic.
As A Darener has already said, Jack Jnr needs to go and get a proper job first. How does he represent working class people, not having held a job. Hypocrites, and yet some people still vote them In. Some Politicians just care about their own pockets and career, rather than the people they represent, Straw being one of them, and as for their candidate In Blackburn, (Hollern) If people vote for her, they get what they deserve, because Labour under her leadership has sunk Blackburn to the mess It Is today.
As already mentioned by Bat E Karen, at least Jake Berry makes his presence known unlike the Anderson woman.
Time for change, time for people to realize Labour Isn't what It used to be years ago.

Blackburn New Labour teams up to oust Tory MP so that young Jack Straw will eventually be able to ‘twin’ Rossendale with Blackburn!

After self confessed ‘Elderly’ Scottish lass Kate Hollern is given Blackburn’s safe seat next year Jack Junior will be gagging on his bit to take her place at the earliest opportunity. Because of Blackburn’s safe seat regime he’ll be looking forwards to travelling to Blackburn for the next thirty odd years just like his dad.

Another straw?

Has Blackburn & Darwen not suffered enough!

Jake Berry is a disgrace as he has supported a Government that has diverted resources from the |North where its needed to the leafy boroughs in the South where his mates live. He also pontificates about stopping development on sites such as Bailey's Field when its his bosses Grant Shapps and Eric Pickles who have forced the Local Council to favour developers over the concern of local residents.

The man needs to go and anyone who is up to help in Rossendale and Darwenn get rid of him whether they are from Blackburn or anywhere else is ok by me.

Retaining Darwen Vale as a LEA School ? - FAIL
Having Central Government remove Baileys Field from the Plan ? - FAIL
Having Moorland Site handed over for a running track ? - FAIL
Sourcing outside funding for Darwen Town Centre and market ?- FAIL
Reducing Child Poverty in the Area ? - FAIL
Reducing the need for Foodbanks ? - FAIL
Reducing the impact of Government cuts to local government and saving council-run nursing homes ? - FAIL

Keep up the good work Joke !
