RESIDENTS in East Lancashire have reported ‘white water’ coming out of their taps.
United Utilities received 23 reports from across Blackburn, Great Harwood and Langho and Mellor on Friday.
The supplier said they have inspectors monitoring the situation and that the water is not harmful.
They said that if the water is left to stand for five minutes it will clear.
In a statment on the company’s website, a spokesman said: “We have received calls to let us know some of you are finding when you turn your tap on the water appears white/is aerated; it has lots of bubbles in it when you fill up a glass.
“This is not harmful to health and will clear from bottom up if you fill a glass and leave it to stand for five minutes.
“In the meantime we have one of our inspectors looking into this.”
