A SKIP hire and waste transfer business based on a Blackburn industrial unit is set to expand.
Blackburn Skip Hire, at Gordon Mill, in Lower Hollin Bank Street, has been given permission to also open in the neighbouring unit by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
The business operates as a waste transfer and skip hire unit but will now branch out into vehicle dismantling and the sale of motor parts.
A spokesman for the firm said: “We currently operate a waste transfer unit and skip hire operation from Unit 2A which was which was granted planning consent (in 2009).
“Due to the large size of the unit and the associated land available with Unit 3, the proposal is to transfer the current use into the unit next door, and to introduce end of life vehicle dismantling and sale of motor parts.
“The proposal is also for the installation of a roller shutter and access door to the front, for additional security there is proposal for the installation of of two metre high security fencing.”
