A SOCIAL housing firm mentor is in the running to become a ‘Housing Hero’.

Alison Clews, skills and enterprise co-ordinator at Together Housing, which encompasses Twin Valley Homes, Pendle Housing and Green Vale Homes, has made the shortlist of Inside Housing’s Inspirational Mentor of the Year award.

Alison, from Read, helps apprentices co-ordinate learning and work programmes across the housing group.

Alison said: “My job is also my passion and to have even made the shortlist for this award is a huge honour. I am so proud of the work we have done with our apprentices and it is fantastic to watch them grow as people and develop their skills.

“Our apprenticeship programme is second to none and it is all down to the hard work of all the staff and mentors.”

Steve Close, Together Housing Group chief executive, said: “We are very proud of our apprenticeship programme. Alison truly is an inspiration and we wish her all the very best.”

The awards ceremony will be held in Manchester on Monday, June 23.
