A FOOTBALL-mad youngster was treated to a ‘dream day’ with his heroes in recognition of a special anniversary.

Seven-year-old Logan Prince met stars from Blackburn Rovers three years after being taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with type one diabetes shortly after his fourth birthday.

He spent a week in hospital, and the first two days in a high dependency unit.

The junior season ticket holder, from Accrington, now has to test his blood at least eight times a day and has to have at least five daily insulin injections.

But Logan refuses to let the condition dictate his life and, to celebrate, his parents branded the date of his diagnosis, April 24, Logan’s D Day. The football fanatic, who has scored more than 100 goals for Huncoat United’s Under Sevens and was recently named their player of the year, often attends Blackburn Rovers’ Soccer Camp.

And, after contacting the club, he was invited to spend the day at Rovers’ Senior Training Centre, where he watched the first team train, was given a behind-the-scenes tour and had lunch in the players’ canteen.

To top off a memorable visit, Logan met manager Gary Bowyer, and his favourite player Tommy Spurr, before being presented with a pair of Paul Robinson’s goalkeeper gloves.
