A BLACKBURN man is to cycle hundreds of miles as part of a national challenge.

Nathan Regan has pledged to join in an epic 150 mile cycling challenge from London to Amsterdam as part of a fund raising drive with The Football League.

Nathan, 23, the Blackburn Rovers store supervisor, will cycle 150 miles from London to Amsterdam and hopes to raise £1,500 for the Football League’s official charity partner.

The lifelong Rovers fan said he was thrilled to be Blackburn’s representative for the challenge after Rovers manager Gary Bowyer gave his backing to Nathan who will be raising money for Prostate Cancer UK.

The former St Bede’s pupil who has worked for Rovers for six years said: “I was looking for a really good physical challenge when I heard about this.

“I think helping the sufferers of prostate cancer is a really worthy cause and so I signed up straight away.

“I’ve always been a Rovers fan and I’m thrilled to be the club’s representative.”

Each Football League club has provided a representative to complete the gruelling challenge, which takes place in June and finishes on the eve of the World Cup.

The London to Amsterdam Challenge this June will see cyclists leave Leyton Orient FC before a gruelling ride to Harwich. Participants then take the overnight ferry and arrive in central Amsterdam for pre-World Cup celebrations on the evening of Saturday June 7. The riders then head back to the UK on the Eurostar after hopefully raising thousands of pounds for charity.
