A YOUNG mum furious after finding out she had married a 'paedophile' launched a campaign of death threats against her mother-in-law for not telling her, a court heard.

Stephanie Dawn Simcock, 25, left a string of chilling messages for the victim Kim Simcock, threatening the lives of her family and saying that she would burn her house down and had made a bomb.

She told Mrs Simcock she was going to make their lives hell and said: "Don't leave your house after 9pm. That's the best time to kill you."

Burnley magistrates were told how Simcock, who also threatened death on her jailed husband, made about 60 silent phone calls to the police from her mobile in one day.

The defendant, whose ex-'trainee priest' husband Richard, 28, is serving 10 years behind bars for sexually abusing two girls some years ago, was arrested and told police she blamed Mrs Simcock for not telling her about her son.

She added: “I can't get to him because he's in prison. I can get to his family.”

The defendant, formerly of Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, admitted sending by the public communications network an offensive or menacing message, on or between February 22 and 28 and persistently making use of a public communications network to cause annoyance/ inconvenience/anxiety, on February 28. Both offences took place at Bacup.

She was jailed for a total of 12 weeks.
