‘Thanks for putting your trust in me’: Kate Hollern thanks Blackburn Labour members

Blackburn Citizen: Kate Hollern Kate Hollern

KATE Hollern has thanked Blackburn Labour members in Blackburn for their trust in her to be the party’s general election candidate and said her task is now to win the same from the town’s voters.

On Sunday, the borough council leader comfortably won the selection contest to replace Jack Straw, with 199 of the 360 votes cast.

London barrister Sara Ibrahim came second with 53, Middleton environmental scientist Ann Courtney got 39 and Huddersfield councilllor Naheed Arshad- Mather got 44.

Some 25 out of 220 postal votes were disallowed.

Coun Hollern said: “I am really honoured that Blackburn Labour Party put their trust and confidence in me to be their candidate in 2015. It’s a tremendous responsibility for me. My job now is to persuade voters of the town to do the same.

“I am not complacent and know that is a big task.

“If elected, my job will be to represent the people of Blackburn in Parliament and make sure their voice is heard at Westminster.

Jack Straw said: “I am delighted Kate has won and by such a resounding margin. She has said there is no such thing as a safe seat, so she is not taking the people of Blackburn for granted.”

If she's the best that labour has got to offer, then god help us...
'the town centers like a building site' she said on mall redevelopment two years ago,
she must think that the people of Blackburn are more retarded than herself.
one breaks eggs to make an omelette dear kate ..or didn't your mother teach you that.

There is no such thing as a safe seat and she won't take the people of Blackburn for granted said Jack Straw.

Should she get In Jack, I have no doubt she will take the people for granted just like you did, because Labour In this town have an arrogance It's a safe seat to a certain extent.

It's now up to the people of Blackburn to show that It Isn't a safe seat for Labour by making their vote count. Personally UKIP will be getting my vote, If we are going to line the pockets of an MP, then I want to see something coming back to the people of Blackburn, something that hasn't happened under Labour at local or national government for donkey's years.

What a mess and standards this town has become under you lot.

Blackburn slipped away many years ago and is still on the slide thanks to the "skills"of the many successive Clowncils since the 60s there is now no hope especially when left in the hands of all the no hopers in currently ruling the roost

Jack Straw is saying: Councillor Hollern said that there is no such thing as a safe seat and that she said she is not taking the people of Blackburn for granted . . .

Jack Straw has been taking for granted his safe seat as MP for Blackburn for over thirty years!

Please ask yourselves . . .

How long has the Labour party held their political safe seat in Blackburn?

How long has Jack Straw held his safe seat as MP in Blackburn?

How long has Kate Hollern held her safe seat as councillor at Higher Croft?

All that can be expected having safe seats are the same lowering of standards.

Both are safe seat New Labour Pains!

the alternative could have been a much better candidate instead of Kate Hollern who is the unions choice its really disgusting that Phil Riley did not disclose how many union noms were given to each candidate....this has been a charade from day 1 to get her in...she may have "helped" you but that does not deter me from the fact that blackburn has become a right old tip under her leadership and with her at the helm i predict stormy trecherous waters! I truly hope people vote blue as a message to labour that we are not to be taken for granted...voting UKIP will just give labour an excuse....
