TEENAGE thugs who vandalised a bollard outside a Hyndburn school have apologised after being caught on camera.

The pair, students at nearby Norden High School in Rishton, sent written apologies to the council after a knock on the door by police.

A resident took pictures of the teenagers bending the black, two-feet-tall bollard over at a near 90-degree angle, and sent them to councillors in the town.

A council spokesman said: “The matter was taken up head teacher Tim Mitchell and the local police on behalf of Lancashire County Council, and visits were made to the home addresses of the pupils involved.

“The respective parents were said to have been shocked by the images and written apologies to the council were received shortly afterwards by the youths.”

No lasting damage was done to the bollard, he added.
