A GANG is being hunted by police are they carried out two burglaries yesterday.

Properties in Lambeth Street and Winston Road in Blackburn were targeted by the three men, who police believe are of Eastern European or Asian heritage, at around noon.

Within 15 minutes, officers took to social networking site Facebook to appeal for help in finding the gang’s getaway vehicle, a black or dark grey BMW.

An update on the Blackburn and Darwen police site said the car was possibly a One Series, with a registration that starts with YT06, and appealed for residents to check their CCTV cameras for full registrations or images of the offenders.

The men were described as wearing tracksuit bottoms and dark hoodies, and had been seen trying to smash in the back door of a house in Winston Road at 11.44am.

After being disturbed, the men fled, but were seen around 1.7 miles away in Lambeth Street at 11.58am.

A caller told police two of the men were trying to break into a house through the front door, while the other man acted as a lookout.

Again they were disturbed and fled the scene.

A police spokesman said nothing was taken during the burglaries, which were being treated as linked.

A dark coloured BMW One Series was later seen speeding in the Egerton area at around 2.20pm.
