MEMBERS of Lower Darwen Memorial Bowling Club are celebrating after receiving a grant of more than £10,000.
The money was given to the club by SITA Trust, and the £10, 230 will be used to purchase a new mower multi-purpose bowling green maintainence system.
David Kendall, a committee member at the club said: “The club members, players and local community are incredibly grateful to SITA Trust for this funding, which will secure the future of the club for the benefit of the people of Lower Darwen.”
Marek Gordon, CEO and chairman of SITA Trust said: “We were really impressed with Lower Darwen Memorial Bowling Club’s application for funding.
“The passion of its members and their will to share their club with the community meant success in a very busy funding round.
“We hope to see the club flourish for years to come.”
SITA Trust supports community and environmental improvement projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
