Disgruntled East Lancashire wife sells 'selfish git's' pride and joy on ebay

Blackburn Citizen: Tony Raynor with wife Alison and the bike Tony Raynor with wife Alison and the bike

THE disgruntled wife of an East Lancashire motorbike fanatic has uploaded a sarcasm-laden advert for it on internet auction site eBay.

Alison Raynor was given free rein to write the advert when husband Tony decided to sell his pride and joy Triumph.

Alison’s rant online has attracted comments from around the world and bids of up to £10,000.

The ad reads: “My husband’s 300 brake horsepower monster cruiser is up for sale.

MORE TOP STORIES:

“The selfish git has spent several kitchens turning this into an overpowered drag sofa, but I’m finally getting the lounge pimped with the proceeds. The paint job alone cost the price of a holiday on the Riviera.

“This supercharged and intercooled Rocket III Roadster comes with a free set of ear plugs in case you want to retain your hearing.

“I would advise married men not to bother with these so as to quell the screams of their soon-to-be ex-wives.

Mrs Raynor’s parting shot to would-be buyers said: “Message me and I will reply with the imbecile’s phone number so that you can speak your endless drivel together.”

Tony, boss of Blackburn-based Abbey Telecom, said this was not the first bike he had invested heavily in before selling.

He has previously owned a Harley Davidson and a 5.7 litre V8 Chevrolet — to the disappointment of his wife.

Tony said: “She has always given me stick about my bikes. She would rather have another pair of shoes.

“The way it works is I get a new bike and she gets a new kitchen.”

While the unusual advert may appear to be a superb PR ploy, it has attracted a great deal of interest.

The listing on eBay had had more than 2,600 views at the time of going to print, and 75 interested buyers keeping an eye on it.

One comment said: “Quite an amusing ad.

“Let’s be honest now, wives don’t usually know the first thing about the bloke's bike, let alone where he got the paint done.”

Alison replied: “I know where the pathetic imbecile got everything done because he schlepped me around the country buying the useless nonsense.”

Two things:
1) This is a classic Tony Raynor stunt to raise his profile
2) Wonder if Michael Morrison is getting a percentage of the sale price given this free page 3 publicity to a man who frankly probably doesn't need the money.

In response to paperboy70.
One of the reasons I have worked for Tony for 18 years and still in a job is due to these no cost marketing/PR initiatives.
