HEALTH bosses have marked a milestone in the construction of a state-of-the-art facility for mental health patients in Lancashire.
Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust held a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony at The Harbour in Blackpool, to mark the final roof tile being placed on the first phase of the building.
Dementia patients from East Lancashire who require specialist treatment will be admitted to the facility from spring next year, after the controversial closure of several local units.
Mark Thomas, regional director for the construction firm, Integrated Health Projects, said: “It is exciting to have seen this building develop over time and to have reached this key milestone in the construction programme. The new hospital will be a leading mental health unit for the North West.”
