Fourth wettest February in forty years for East Lancashire

EAST Lancashire saw its fourth wettest February in more than forty years this year.
Rainfall was nearly double the normal amount, with 172.9mm of rainfall resulting in the fourth wettest February in 42 years.
The year 2002 was the worst February in recent memory, with a recorded rainfall of 10.90 inches.
Total rainfall in December 2013 and January and February this year was 20.38 inches, 43 per cent above average for the time of year.
The month of February also had a very low mean pressure, the lowest since 2000.
March is set to be brighter, with temperatures predicated to be above average, with low incidences of frost.
According to forecasts, March weather across the north west is set to be changeable, and wind and rain interspersed with dry bright spells are likely in Lancashire.
