Blackburn's university centre to offer new courses
9:52am Tuesday 4th March 2014 in News
BLACKBURN’S university centre is to expand with 10 new courses on offer from this year.
The centre said it added the new courses to cope with the increasing influx of students.
The centre is gearing up for the removal of the current cap on university numbers in September 2015, which will allow more students to study locally in Blackburn.
Included in the new course mix are two new year full-time foundation degrees in Public Service Management for Uniformed Services, which has been designed with a particular focus on the army, fire service and police.
A foundation degree in Public Service Management for Housing which provides a progression route will also feature.
Both courses are validated by Lancaster University, ranked in the top one per cent of universities in the world.
Further collaborations with the University of Cumbria will see the start of a foundation degree in Complementary Therapies.
The programme is already picking up applications due to the rising demand in the complementary therapy field.
The programme will include practical pathways for sports massage, reflexology and holistic massage specialisms.
