POLICE are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a man who is wanted on prison recall.

Andrew Cross, 30, was jailed for seven years in October 2006 for possession of a handgun and was released in December last year to Probation Trust approved premises in Accrington.

However, he failed to return to the premises on December 24th and has been at large ever since.

Cross is originally from Sheffield and still has family and associates there and officers believe that due to those strong links that he may well be in the area.

Cross is described white, around five feet nine inches tall and of medium/proportionate build with short blonde hair. He has a number of tattoos including tribal designs on the left and right sides of his neck.

Detective Inspector Jo Dent said: “While Andrew Cross remains at large there is the possibility that he could pose a risk to members of the public and I would urge anyone who knows where he is or who sees him not to approach him directly but to call the police.

“I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us by calling 101. If you are calling from Lancashire please quote log number 913 of the 20th February, if you are passing information from South Yorkshire, please quote log number 684 of the 20th of February.”
