Choking advice for parents

Blackburn Citizen: Choking advice for parents Choking advice for parents

CHARITIES have raised concerns after a survey revealed half of parents did not know the correct procedure to take if their child started choking.

The survey was commissioned to mark the publication of the latest edition of the First Aid Manual.

It contains information on the new choking technique.

Previously, the advice was to place infants along the parent’s arm face down, but this has changed to placing the baby face down along the thigh.

A spokesman for the North West branch of St John Ambulance said: “The new manual is a must for every home.”

Rovers til I cry says...

So put the child down your thigh and then what ? Half of parents will still not know what to do. Perhaps putting some further information in this report would have been helpful in this instance and who knows it may save a life. I know there is a first aid book to be sold and money has to be made from it but come on LT shape up, or else this is just an advert for a book.
