‘End 24hr opening’ says East Lancashire MP
3:30pm Tuesday 11th February 2014 in News
EAST Lancashire Euro MP Paul Nuttall has called for an end to 24-hour licensing and a return to traditional closing times for pubs and clubs.
He believes this will help curb the violence and disorderly behaviour causing misery in towns and villages up and down the country.
The UKIP deputy leader and North-West MEP said: "Alcohol-fuelled crime costs England and Wales around £11billion a year and is a terrible drain on the emergency services and NHS, The whole concept of introducing a continental-style 'cafe' culture into the UK was inherently flawed and we are paying the price.
“There must be an urgent change in the licensing laws so there are fixed closing times, such as 11.30 pm for pubs and off-licences and 3 am for clubs.”
