AROUND £100,000 will be spent improving footpaths in Milnshaw Park, Accrington, Hyndburn Council has announced.
The work will start next week after inspections found the paths’ surfaces had deteroriated. Around 2,000sq metres will be resurfaced over eight weeks, and work will also be carried out on the path around the old paddling pool area.
Cabinet member for parks, Coun Ciaran Wells, said: “The resurfacing work to this popular local park will make access easier for visitors to enjoy the amenities.”
Pedestrians will be unable to use the paths while they are being upgraded, but the council said it plans to sequence repairs, and set up diversionary routes. People will still be able to use the park to access Hyndburn Road and Lancaster Drive. The work is due to be finished by the end of March.
