PARENTS in Hoddlesden have been advised to remind children of the importance of road safety.

The advice came after nearby residents and teachers at St Paul’s Primary School raised concerns about children playing on the blind bend in Bayne Street.

PCSO Nick Gisicz said: “While we still want children to be able to play outside, we want them to play in areas where potential oncoming traffic is clearly visible so they know when to move out of the way, allowing the vehicle to pass safely without the possibility of someone getting hurt.

“My advice to parents of youngsters living in the area is to make sure you know where they are playing out, and to remind them of how important it is to play in areas where they can clearly see when traffic is coming.

“Parents can also encourage their children to play in areas where there is no threat of traffic at all.”
