A PRIMARY school Breakfast Club is continuing to thrive after a helping hand by charity Children in Need.

The before-school club held at Our Lady’s Primary School in Blackburn, helps to feed around 65 to 75 of its pupils thanks to free or subsidised breakfasts for children at the school.

The club was originally started five years ago as staff noticed children were coming to school hungry and many were waiting outside the school in the cold.

A spokesman for Children In Need said over 50 per cent of the pupils at the school are entitled to free school meals.

Last year saw Children In Need celebrate its most successful appeal night to date, raising £31m to support charities across the UK.
