DARRENER David Horsfield’s bid to become a town councillor at the next election is being backed by Sudell councillor Paul Browne.

As reported in the Lancashire Telegraph, Mr Horsfield plans to stand as an independent at next year’s election after getting annoyed at councillors’ reactions to his regular questions at the council’s monthly meetings.

And Coun Paul Browne wished Mr Horsfield good luck in his efforts.

He said: “I believe he is right in what he is saying. This council is going more and more political.

“It is not like the first council we had for those first two years.

“That was nowhere near as politicial as the one we have now.

“The Labour group is cracking the Labour whip and I bet the next mayor will be a Labour one as they are being told what to do by a higher authority. I hope people in Darwen will come and stand at the next election.”
