A MAN suffered burns to his face after a fire broke out at a school yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to St Wulstan’s RC Primary School, in Rushton Street, Great Harwood, after reports of a roof fire at 1pm.
Retained firefighters tackled the blaze which saw a man suffer burns to his face.
The man, who was treated at the scene by firefighters, was taken to hospital by ambulance, while firefighters tackled the blaze in the roof space.
A crew from Great Harwood used a triple extension ladder and thermal imaging camera to fight the fire.
The flames caused 30 per cent damage to a roof extension, and saw slight smoke damage to part of the main school building.
