AN investigation is under way after a train smashed into a motorbike left on the railway line near Accrington station this morning.
The 5.41am Colne to Blackpool South train hit the bike as it was slowing down to stop at the station at 6.25am, a spokesman for Network Rail said.
The train was inspected for 45 minutes before being taken to Blackpool, where it was further examined.
The incident left commuters facing delays of almost an hour, with services between Blackburn and Colne and Burnley Manchester Road all affected during the morning rush hour.
Nobody is believed to have been hurt in the incident, which is now being investigated by British Transport Police.
Normal service resumed at 8.45am.
