FINAL preparations are underway for the second Hyndburn Apprenticeship event.

The event, from 4pm on Thursday, January 14, at Accrington Town Hall, is aimed at young people aged 16 to 24, who will be able to find out more about apprenticeships, seek advice, and get one-to-one support in applying for an apprenticeship.

Vacancies will be offered on the day, said Hyndburn Council, with employers offering interviews during the event. Candidates will also have the chance to get hands on, and try out a range of skills and trades.

Daniel Cardwell, 23, attended last year’s event and was offered a pest control apprenticeship with Hyndburn Council.

He said: “I’m learning all the time, doing something different every day, while earning money and gaining qualifications.”

Council leader Miles Parkinson added: “Daniel is a great example of how these events help young people to get real apprenticeships.”
