RESIDENTS wishing to comment on the police and crime commissioner’s budget but are unable to attend a meeting are encouraged to take part online.

The request comes as Clive Grunshaw announced he was considering increasing the police precept in the council tax by two per cent as he looks to make up a £20million deficit.

Lancashire police need to save up to £80million by 2017/18.

Mr Grunshaw said: “I hope as many residents as possible will take the opportunity to attend my roadshows, and talk to me and my team in person about the budget and how much they are willing to pay.

“But, I appreciate that will not be possible for everyone, so would encourage any residents who can’t attend to make their voice heard through the online survey.”
