Battling Jack: £30k cancer charity goal reached
4:00pm Friday 27th December 2013 in News
THE PARENTS of a four-year-old boy who is in remission from a brain tumour are celebrating after reaching a £30,000 fundraising goal.
Brave Jack Lambert was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer of the brain, medulloblastoma, when he was just 20 months old.
After his diagnosis, his family and friends threw themselves into raising money for the Brain Tumour Research and Support charity, which had helped Jack, with the aim of raising £500.
After surpassing their initial target, they have continued to raise money for the past 18 months under the name of Jack’s Journey, and hoped to reach £30,000 before Christmas.
Mum Jen, 32, who grew up in Slaidburn before moving to Bolton-by-Bowland, said: “We only set out to raise £500, never mind this amount.
“Each time we have set another fundraising goal, we have surpassed it.
“We are overwhelmed at the support and dedication shown by those supporting Jack's Journey.
“It's an incredible feeling to know that the money we've all raised together will go directly into research or patient support.
“We would like to thank everyone who has donated or been involved with a fundraising activity.”
