BOOTSTRAP Enterprises has clinched the best Large Social Enterprise of the Year at the annual Selnet Enterprise In Society Awards.

And its chief executive Elizabeth Taylor was named as Lancashire’s Social Enterprise Champion 2013.

The title of Social Enterprise Champion is bestowed on an individual who, in the opinion of the judges, is a leading figure in the sector over the last 12 months.

The ceremony took place at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, with more than 200 social enterprises leaders from across Lancashire battling it out in 10 categories.

Bootstrap has been delivering services since 1987, and now has 138 staff and centres in Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Rawtenstall.

Fiona Douglas, a volunteer at Bootstrap, was also highly commended in the Volunteer of the Year category.

A delighted Elizabeth said: “I have a great team around me and the award should equally recognise their efforts.”
