A 33-YEAR-OLD motorist drove away from police when an officer said he was going to breathalyse her.

Blackburn magistrates heard Christina Boardman overtook cars waiting at a red light before travelling on the wrong side of a busy main road forcing oncoming cars to mount the pavement to avoid a collision.

And when she was eventually breathalysed Boardman gave a reading more than three times the legal drink-drive limit.

Boardman, of Hillside Avenue, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol.

She was made subject to community supervision for 18 months and banned from driving for two years with a requirement she takes an extended re-test before getting her licence back.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the incident happened at 10.40am and started when Boardman pulled out in front of a police car, crossed on to the wrong side of the road and narrowly missed a parked car.

David Edwards, defending said it was a sad day for his client who had no previous convictions. He said: “She will go months without a drink and then binge-drink as she had been on the weekend of this incident.”
