A SENIOR nurse at an Accrington care home has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse.

Anne Dean, who lives in West Bradford, was honoured by the community nursing charity, The Queen’s Nursing Institute.

The title indicates ‘a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.’ The charity’s chief executive, Crystal Oldman, congratulated Anne, who works at Myrtle House Medical Practice, on her success.

He said: “Community nurses operate in an ever more challenging world and our role is to support them as effectively as we can.

“The Queen’s Nurse title is a key part of this.”

The awards ceremony was held in London, and the award was presented by Viv Bennett, director of nursing at the Department of Health and Public Health England.
