5,000 visitors see Peppa Pig switch on Accrington's Christmas lights

MORE than 5,000 people attended Accrington’s Christmas lights switch-on event.

Hyndburn Council said 5,200 gathered on Broadway to watch kids’ favourite Peppa Pig switch on the lights with a host of other performers and entertainers.

Deputy leader of the council, Coun Clare Pritchard, said: “The event attracted a huge number of families and a big thank you goes out to everyone who helped to make it such a success.”

Other events are planned for  the festive season.

Live reindeer will be appearing on Broadway from 10am until 1pm this Saturday.

Santa’s Grotto will then open every Saturday through December, plus Monday, December 23, and on Christmas Eve.
