DARWEN’S Pepperpot Hill Theatre Company is presenting the modern classic northern drama Blood Brothers.

The play is the original version of Willy Russell’s celebrated musical of the same name.

The story sees twin brothers Mickey and Eddie Johnstone separated at birth as their poverty-stricken mother struggles to cope with her large family’s new additions.

Playing on Mrs Johnstone’s superstitions, her employer the middle class Mrs Lyons offers to take one of the boys, forcing their mother to never reveal the secret as it will cause their death.

The cast for the production, which runs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Darwen Library Theatre, 7.30pm, features Andy Teirney and Lee Thornton as the brothers, Rachel Kirkham as Mrs Lyons, Lyndsey Spensor as Mrs Johnstone, Gemma Vignali as the boys’ friend Linda. Lisa Tierney and Jennifer Battrick share the role of the narrator.

Thursday night’s show is sold out. Tickets for Friday and Saturday cost £10, concessions £8, from 01254 706006.
