A BLACKBURN park provided a wonderful day of seasonal fun with an unprecedented number of visitors.

Winter Wonderland at Roe Lee Park was again an overwhelming success with more than 3,000 people throughout the day.

The weather was fine with little cloud.

The Youth Zone entertained the crowds with a ‘dance off’ and Blowjangles played a set which included some Christmas songs.

The ice skating rink provided by Wonder Ice was the main attraction of the day and this year included a snow machine, to the delight of youngsters.

There were also fairground rides, more than 30 market stalls and a coffee van.

Santa’s grotto with his helpers had plenty of visitors.

Three hot food stalls and mini go-karts rounded off the attractions for visitors.

Jason Walker from The Friends of Roe Lee Park thanked all who attended.

He said: “It was a day that showed real community spirit and it was great to see so many people come to the park.

“It just shows what an asset it is to the community.” I would like to thank all the hard work by volunteers before and on the day. A special thank you to event manager Maurice Ffelan.”
