A NEW stained glass memorial window has been installed at Pleasington crematorium chapel.

The chapel itself has been redecorated as a result of a kind donation from the bereaved family of a local man in his memory.

Blackburn Cathedral also received funding under the Refurbish a Chair scheme.

The family, who wish to remain anonymous, bequeathed some money to the council for a fitting memorial to their loved one.

They wanted to ensure that the money was used for the benefit of the crematorium to either improve facilities or maintain the gardens.

Councillor Jim Smith, executive member for regeneration, said: “This was a very generous donation and is a fitting tribute to the local man, whose legacy has been spent to the benefit of all those who will visit the Chapel.”

The window echoes the rolling, rural scenery of the Pleasington area and the nearby Witton Country Park, depicting hills, fields and sunshine.
