THE SUN is setting on Olveston's pop-up exhibition as artist Angus Macaskill prepares to put his brushes away for a much-deserved break - until Christmas.
To take a bow in style, the painter reverted to a favourite theme, the Royal family, portraying the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their newborn son Prince George in a golden field on the gates of the now famous Churchill House.
In his latest tableau, the happy family is shrouded in darkness as dusk descends on the scene - a fine way to bid his hundreds of fans farewell.
"I think the sun is going down on my gates for this autumn- with a slight get-out clause here- unless there is a major news event of a suitably upbeat nature.
"I'm hoping to end with a bit of a local joke. But really, the sunset is my last planned big change."
He added: "There is some ongoing implicit pressure to turn every single 'chapter' of the gates into at least a 'reasonable' outcome. It's thanks to all the positive feedback that I didn't give up with the gates a long time ago.
"It's fairly safe to say the gates will be popping-up again with something new at Christmas time."
