POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a small child was assaulted in a Darlington shop.
It happened at the Vodafone store in Northgate on October 7 and a 27-year-old local woman has been interviewed in connection with the incident.
Darlington police are keen to speak to anybody who saw the assault and Detective Constable Elizabeth Graham said: “We believe there may have been up to a dozen customers in the store at the time.
“If any of them saw this incident we would ask them to come forward and help our enquiries.”
Det Con Graham can be contacted at the Safeguarding Unit at Darlington police station on 01325-742791.
